The first Earth Day was in 1970 and I was in high school. We did a team project which was a photo essay of the waste dumps in the Chicagoland area set to music by Stephen Stills. That project inspired me to follow my dream of trying to save the world so I decided to become an environmental engineer. I have investigated and solved projects related to energy, manufacturing, hazardous waste dumps and spills, transportation and other issues related to sustainability.
Remember the 1990 ABC-TV Special, the Earth Day Special? It was produced by Time Warner and contained an All-Star Cast of entertainers and scientists and engineers including Robin Williams as “Everyman”, Bette Midler as Mother Earth, Carl Sagan, Dustin Hoffman, Jim Hensen and Kermit the Frog, E.T., Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig, Quincy Jones, Fresh Prince, Queen Latifah, the cast from Saturday Night Live, Jack Lemmon, Morgan Freeman, Rodney Dangerfield, Jane Fonda, Barbara Streisand and many others. They implored people to #RECYCLE, #REDUCE, #REPLACE, #REUSE, #REJOICE! The special is still very relevant today and makes the point 29 years ago that people get very excited about the issues for one day, and then don’t follow up. There has been a lot of progress, but lately it seems like we are going backwards. This cannot happen.
I have included the theme song video from the special here, “The Planet Raps Back – Workin Together”.
I am still excited about saving the world and shows like these galvanize me into continuing my efforts in engineering and art. Click on the entire special RIGHT HERE!

If we are successful, the world is a better place for everyone. It should be #fun4thedisabled.com and #funforeveryoneland are!
